For the most part traditional English cooking isn’t too healthy for you. It is high in protein for the most part, which is good, but many of the dishes found in traditional cooking is high is fats, grease, and cholesterol. That’s not too say if you eat this diet you’ll be obese and physically unhealthy. For the most part it’s very similar to our own diet; one hotdog or cheeseburger every now and then won’t hurt you, but you wouldn’t want to eat those foods every day.  However in recent years there has been a push, just like in our country to make the national diet more nutritious and all around healthier. Just like our country, England deals with serious obesity problems. Around 62% of adults in the UK are obese, which is more than twice of the percentage here in America and that’s saying something. To counter act these alarming statistics the English government has put forth several initiatives. For one, just like in the U.S. the English government is pushing for more nutritious lunches for public schools. Also, they have started similar programs to our “Let’s Move” campaign. Lastly, they are encouraging small businesses to offer healthier choices with monetary and commercial incentives.
