Become a Geek about the Greek

The culture I choose is Greek. I am interested in learning about it because it a type I heard a lot about and have really never tried. Greek culture is mainly Mediterranean kind of style which includes olives, fish, shellfish, poultry, meat, dairy, vegetables, and fruits. The Greek diet is the perfect example of traditional Mediterranean eating. It's based around a variety of colorful and flavorful foods that are high in nutrients and low in animal fats (MEDITERRASIAN.COM).

Picture here is the Mediterranean Sea where most of the fish of Greek diet comes from. Some interesting facts include, Ancient Greeks used Honey instead of sugar because they didn't have sugar back then. In the Summer months there were plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables to eat and in the winter they ate dried fruit and food they had stored like apples and lentils. As most of the Greeks lived very near the sea, they also ate a lot of fish, squid. (Mandy Barrow)
