The connections between the life of the people of the Philippines and their culture and food almost act as one.  When there is any celebration of some sort, there will always be a plethora of food with many varieties.  One celebration that is one of the grandest in  the Philippines is the Sinulog Festival.  It is to honor the patron saint of Santo Nino, which is baby Jesus. The festival is held in the city if Cebu every January.  People fill the streets of Cebu to watch parades and join in rituals and prayers.  More feasts are usually held within the family.  During a Birthday party, there is always expected there to be a dish called pancit.  This signifies the person who is having the Birthday that he or she is going to have a long healthy life. If you do not have a sort of noodles or preferred pancit at your Birthday it is considered very bad luck.
