G'Day Mate! My dream country that I would like to visit someday is Australia. When I attend college, I hope to study abroad in Sydney, Australia. Australia has many advantages, and many people choose to study abroad here if they have the opportunity. The advantages of studying abroad in Australia include the following: immigration, job certainty, competition, economy, skill gap, and global opportunities. One of the seven wonders of the world, The Great Barrier Reef, is located here. I would love to visit the Sydney Opera House and have some good old BBQ. I've also wanted to visit a Kangaroo farm and maybe jump into one of their pouches and go for a ride!
I hear Australia is known for their BBQ! I not just want to eat delicious food; I want to learn more about the culture and history of the food. Prior to European colonization in the 18th century, Aboriginal Australians survived for thousands of years on a hunter-gatherer diet. They were experts at finding food and water in the Australian landscape. This "bush tucker" diet often included emu, kangaroo, moths, lizards and snakes as well as berries, roots, and honey. Seafood, which was caught with spears or hooks, was a staple of the Aboriginal diet. The diet and cooking techniques of a particular tribe varied with their location. Due to the hardships of this lifestyle many Aborigines thrived and were healthy and well fed. Australia is one of the top producers and exporters of meat in the world. It is the second largest exporter of beef. Other meats include lamb, mutton, pork and to a lesser extent, chicken. Australian steaks and meat cuts are prized for the select quality and caliber of the meat. Australia excels itself when it comes to fruits.
The area of Australia is 7,682,300 square kilometers. Australia is considered to be one of the driest continents on earth. Australia is one of the oldest continents because of the effects of 250 million years of erosion that has made it the flattest land mass on earth. It is located in Oceania between the Indian Ocean and the South Pacific Ocean. It is the sixth largest country in the world. Australia is divided into six different regions. Aboriginal Australians are believed to arrive on Australia about 70,000 years ago. The first known landing in Australia by Europeans was by Dutch navigator Willem Janszoon in 1606. Gold rushes and agriculture industries brought prosperity. Autonomous Parliamentary democracies began to be established throughout the six British colonies from the mid-19th century.
