Spain Puts Other Countries to Shame
Spain is a very unique country and has a very unique
culture. The reason I chose to research Spain
is because they seem to be very different from the rest of the countries in
Europe. Spain has many different
influences on their food. One of the
main influences that Spain has on many of their dishes includes a variety of
seafood. This is not surprising because Spain is actually located on a peninsula. The seafood used in these dishes can range
anywhere from cuttlefish to muscles and in some cases both! Although seafood is very popular it is not
always necessarily cheap. A large amount
of Spain is living in poverty. Spain has
been battling unemployment since the late 50’s and early 60’s. Therefore, another important piece of many Spanish
dishes calls for rice. However, it is
rare to find plain white rice in these dishes.
Most versions of Spanish rice are cooked with different spices and
sauces. I learned quite a few
interesting facts about Spain after doing some research. Much of Spain is covered with various mountain
ranges and plateaus. A large amount of
the agriculture industry farms on the tops of these plateaus throughout the
summer. Primarily in the northern region
of the country they experience hot summers and cold winters so farming must be performed
at specific times of the year. Spain also turns out to be the world’s leading
olive oil producer over Italy and Greece.
And finally, has the most space covered by vineyards in the world,
surprisingly surpassing Italy in that category as well.

Although Spain has been influenced by other cultures it's fascinating that both Greece and Spain have seafood as apart of their diet. The Greeks have had seafood as a part of their diet for a long time but the Spanish were influenced two different way but end the same way. Very interesting great blog.
