G'Day Mate!  The Australian Dietary Guidelines give advice on eating for health and well being. They’re called dietary guidelines because it’s your usual diet that influences your health. Based on the latest scientific evidence, they describe the best approach to eating for a long and healthy life.  Australians need to eat more fruits, vegetables, wholegrain cereals, reduced fat milk, yogurt, cheese, fish, seafood, poultry, eggs, beans, and red meat.  Australians need to eat less of starch vegetables, refined cereals, high fat dairy food, and food/drinks high in saturated fat.

Obesity in Australia is an epidemic with increasing frequency.  The Medical Journal of Australia found that obesity in Australia more than doubled in the two decades preceding 2003, and the rise in obesity has been compared to the same health crisis in America.

Popular unhealthy Australian junk foods include the the following: fast food burgers, Tim Tams, Chiko Rolls, Dagwood Dogs, and Kebabs.

There is a similar shift going on in America with obesity as Australia.  Australia is considered to be more obese than the United States.  I'm trying to eat fruits, grains, vegetables, and protein at every meal to stay healthy according to the healthy plate chart.  I think food portrays different emotions.  In the book, each recipe that Tita makes seems to have an affect on her guests in someway.  After I eat a meal, I contemplate on whether it was a good or bad meal and what I liked or disliked about the meal.
