Food plays a major role in all cultures. For some cultures, food is used as a celebration while others bond over food. The Italian culture is one in which food is a bonding item. For Italians, food isn’t just food. Food is used to draw families together and keep traditions going. Family meals are important in the Italian culture as every night, regardless of weekend or weekday, the family will get together and have dinner together. Families bond at the dinner table more than anywhere else. Countless laughs and stories can be heard at a dinner table and the Italian tradition of family meals goes way back. Another Italian culture tradition is the celebration of Christmas. Christmas is probably the most popular holiday throughout the world but especially for Italians. On Christmas, each family has 3 meals together in which family dishes are eaten. If you were to go to an Italian restaurant, you are going to find olive oil, cheese and bread for appetizers. Following that, you would most likely see a pasta dish. Obviously, Italians are famous for pasta. Hands down, the most famous Italian dish is pasta. My personal favorite pasta dish is definitely lasagna with a meat sauce. However, no one makes it like my dad does. It takes him about seven hours to make his homemade lasagna. Spending the day making lasagna with him is one of my favorite things to do. Like I said, food isn’t just food. Bonding happens over food in certain cultures and I’m glad my family is involved in that.

  2. Its a perfect connection between family and food, since we share them together so much. I know for my family, it's almost unheard of eating alone or eating out. And the same goes for the Chinese Culture. Great connection.
