Paella is a very popular Spanish dish.  It often takes a lot of time to prepare because of the many components necessary for the dish.  Personally having the dish before and helping prepare it I know how difficult and precise the work must be in order to effectively create the dish.  Paella includes a mix of seafood, rice, and vegetables. The variety of seafood that is called for in this dish includes lobster, shrimp, cuddle fish, and clams.  After adding tomato, rice, and paprika, and cooking the entire dish, the meal is complete.  However, there are multiple types of paella.  There is another type of paella that is often created when seafood is not as abundant.  This form of paella calls for chicken, some form of seafood if available, rice, and a vegetable mix.  The third and most simple form of paella calls for rice and a variety of spices including, saffron, paprika, garlic, and rosemary.  This is the original and simplest form.  It was made to serve an entire family on a low budget.  As you move towards the inland area of Spain it is more common to find this form of paella.  As you move closer to the sea you are more likely to find a seafood paella having more availability to the necessary resources.  Many Spanish dishes center around rice because it is an affordable piece of the meal that families of all classes can afford.  As you begin to move into the higher economic social classes you will find the more extravagant dishes including meats and a variety of seafood.
