Ever since a young age I've had a fascination for learning about other countries- especially England. From its gentle rolling hills to its fascinating sports like rugby and cricket, England has a lavish culture with plenty to offer. Bordered by Scotland and Wales, England is about 74 times smaller than America and has a population just over 2 times the amount of California's. England is known as a constitutional monarchy and parliamentary democracy, meaning they are ruled by a Queen and a parliament with two houses.
Besides tea and fish & chips, some of the popular foods there are oysters, which were first introduced by the Romans. Many of their foods also tend to be simple and involve milk, such as gruth and garlic chowdie. Because England is more of a traditional country, most of their popular dishes include meat such as chicken, lamb, sausage, beef, and roast.

I can't wait to discover all of the different traditions this country has to offer and learn more about the peoples culture and foods.

I thought it was really interesting that England's population is around 74x smaller than the United States, but it has a population 2x the amount of California. I didn't know that oysters were first introduced by the Romans.
ReplyDeleteI always thought that the country was called Great Britian. I didn't know that it is actually called the United Kingdom because it consists of multiple countries until I learned about it in BritLit last year.
